🌿 About Green Boat Engines
Your trusted partner for new and reconditioned marine engines, expert service, and sustainable boating solutions across Europe. Based in the Amsterdam harbour industrial area, we combine factory-certified technical expertise with a genuine commitment to protecting the waters we all share.
Our Story
Green Boat Engines was founded on a simple but powerful belief: boating should not come at the cost of the environment. In an industry where engines are discarded, oceans are polluted, and customers are sold solutions they do not need, we set out to build something different — a marine engine company that treats the water, the customer, and the craft with equal respect.
What began as a small workshop in the Amsterdam harbour industrial area has grown into one of Europe’s most trusted suppliers of new and reconditioned inboard and outboard motors, marine generators, and genuine OEM parts. We now ship engines across the European Union, from the fjords of Norway to the marinas of the Mediterranean, backed by a team of factory-certified technicians and a service infrastructure designed for reliability, transparency, and speed.
Our name is not just branding. Green is our operating principle. Every engine we sell or service is evaluated for its environmental impact — from fuel efficiency and emissions to the recyclability of its components. We actively promote reconditioned engines as a lower-carbon alternative to new manufacturing, we recycle every litre of waste oil and coolant, and we are investing in electric and hybrid propulsion systems that will define the next generation of boating.
We do not just sell engines. We sell confidence on the water — the confidence that your propulsion system will start when you turn the key, perform when you need it, and last for years with proper care. That confidence is built on expertise, honesty, and a service record that speaks for itself.
Green Boat Engines in Numbers
Our Mission & Values
We exist to make marine propulsion reliable, affordable, and sustainable. Every decision we make — from the engines we stock to the way we package parts for shipping — is measured against three core values:
🔧 Technical Excellence
There is no substitute for expertise. Our technicians hold factory certifications from Yamaha, Mercury, Volvo Penta, Yanmar, Perkins, and other leading manufacturers. They attend annual refresher training, use calibrated diagnostic equipment, and follow manufacturer service protocols to the letter. When we service your engine, we do not guess — we measure, test, and verify.
- Factory-certified training for all major brands
- Calibrated torque tools, scan tools, and dynamometers
- Detailed service documentation and photography
- Quality control by a second senior technician
🌱 Genuine Sustainability
We do not greenwash. Our sustainability practices are measurable, documented, and audited. We recycle 100% of waste fluids and metals, we remanufacture components where possible, and we actively promote reconditioned engines as a lower-carbon alternative to new manufacturing. Our "Green Zone" showroom is dedicated to electric and hybrid propulsion — the future of clean boating.
- 100% waste oil and coolant recycling
- Reconditioned engines reduce carbon footprint by up to 60%
- Metal and alloy scrap returned to foundries for re-melting
- Biodegradable packaging and minimal waste shipping
- Electric & hybrid propulsion training and stock
🤝 Honest, Personal Service
We treat every customer like a boat owner, not a sales target. If a €200 repair will solve your problem, we will not sell you a €2,000 overhaul. If a reconditioned engine makes more sense than a new one, we will tell you. Our advisors are technicians first and salespeople second — they speak engine, not marketing. Every quote is itemised, every timeline is realistic, and every warranty is straightforward.
- Itemised quotes with no hidden fees
- Honest repair vs. repower guidance
- 24-hour response on all enquiries
- Post-service follow-up and support

Meet the Team
Green Boat Engines is powered by people who love boats, understand engines, and care about the environment. Our team combines decades of marine engineering experience with a forward-looking approach to clean technology.
👨🔧 Senior Marine Technicians
Our workshop is led by senior technicians with 15+ years of experience each. Collectively, they hold certifications from Yamaha, Mercury Marine, Volvo Penta, Yanmar, Perkins, and Cummins. They have worked on everything from 2.5 HP portable outboards to 1,000 HP marine diesels in commercial fishing vessels. Their expertise is the backbone of our repair, overhaul, and reconditioning programmes.
🛠️ Diagnostic Specialists
Modern marine engines are as much computer as combustion. Our diagnostic specialists are trained in factory-level scan tools, NMEA 2000 network integration, and electric propulsion control systems. They can trace an intermittent fault code, recalibrate an injection pump, or program an electric motor controller with equal confidence.
📋 Customer Advisors
Our front-of-house team are technicians first. They do not read from scripts — they read from service manuals. When you call or visit, you will speak to someone who can explain the difference between a D3-220 and a D4-300, who knows whether a 20-inch or 25-inch shaft is right for your transom, and who will give you an honest assessment of whether to repair, overhaul, or repower.
🌱 Sustainability & Electric Propulsion Team
Our Green Zone specialists are at the forefront of marine electrification. They advise on battery sizing, solar integration, range calculation, and charging infrastructure. Whether you are converting a day-sailer to electric or designing a hybrid system for a charter catamaran, they have the knowledge and the supplier network to make it happen.
📦 Logistics & Shipping
Shipping a 300 kg diesel engine across Europe is not like shipping a parcel. Our logistics team specialises in marine freight — crating, palletising, customs documentation (EORI, VAT), and insured transport. They coordinate with carriers, marinas, and boatyards to ensure delivery is smooth, on time, and damage-free.
🔍 Quality Control
Every engine that leaves our workshop — whether new, reconditioned, or serviced — passes through our quality control process. A second senior technician reviews the work order, verifies torque values, checks fluid levels, and signs off on the test results. No engine leaves without a QC signature. It is a small step that prevents big problems.

Our Sustainability Commitment
We believe the marine industry has a responsibility to protect the waters that sustain it. Our sustainability programme is not a marketing add-on — it is integrated into every aspect of our business.
Reconditioned Engines — The Green Choice
Manufacturing a new marine engine generates approximately 2.5–4 tonnes of CO₂ before it ever touches water. A professionally reconditioned engine, rebuilt to factory specifications with new pistons, bearings, seals, and gaskets, delivers 70–80% of new-engine life at a fraction of the environmental cost. By extending the life of existing engines, we reduce demand for new manufacturing, conserve raw materials, and keep usable equipment out of scrapyards.
Every reconditioned engine we sell undergoes the same testing and quality control as a new engine. They come with a 12-month warranty and full service documentation. For many boat owners, a reconditioned engine is not just the greener choice — it is the smarter financial choice.
Waste Management & Recycling
- Waste oil: Collected by licensed recyclers and re-refined into base lubricant oil. Zero waste oil enters drains or waterways.
- Coolant & antifreeze: Separated and processed for reuse or safe disposal. Ethylene glycol is recovered where possible.
- Metal scrap: Aluminium, cast iron, steel, and bronze components are sorted and returned to foundries for re-melting. We recover approximately 8 tonnes of metal annually.
- Filters & consumables: Oil filters are crushed and drained; paper and cardboard packaging is recycled; plastic shrink-wrap is collected for industrial recycling.
- Batteries: All lead-acid and lithium batteries are returned to authorised recycling facilities.
Packaging & Shipping
We minimise packaging waste by reusing OEM boxes and crates, using biodegradable packing peanuts, and selecting carriers with carbon-offset programmes. For international shipments, we consolidate freight where possible to reduce transport emissions.
Electric & Hybrid Future
Our Green Zone is more than a showroom — it is a research and development partnership with electric propulsion manufacturers. We are actively:
- Training technicians in high-voltage marine systems (up to 800V DC)
- Stocking electric outboards and inboard motor packages
- Advising customers on battery bank sizing, solar integration, and charging infrastructure
- Developing hybrid repower packages for existing diesel vessels
- Collaborating with marina operators on shore-power and fast-charging infrastructure
We believe that within 10 years, electric and hybrid propulsion will be the default choice for inland and coastal boating. We intend to be ready — and to help our customers make the transition smoothly.
Why Choose Green Boat Engines?
There are many places to buy a marine engine or book a service. Here is why customers across Europe choose us — and keep coming back:
✅ Genuine OEM Parts Only
We do not cut corners with cheap aftermarket parts. Every component we fit is genuine OEM or a certified equivalent with full traceability. Your engine was designed to work with specific parts — we respect that design.
✅ Transparent Pricing
No hidden fees, no surprise invoices. Every quote is itemised: labour hours, part numbers, fluid costs, and VAT. If we discover additional work during service, we contact you with a revised estimate before proceeding.
✅ Warranty You Can Trust
Our warranties are written in plain language, not legal jargon. Labour and parts are covered separately, so you know exactly what is protected and for how long. We honour our warranties without argument — because we are confident in our work.
✅ Europe-Wide Shipping
We ship engines, parts, and generators to 28 EU countries. Our logistics team handles crating, customs documentation (EORI, VAT), and insured transport. Whether you are in Stockholm, Lisbon, or Split, we can get an engine to you.
✅ Full Service History
Every engine we sell or service receives a digital service record. This protects your warranty, supports insurance claims, and maximises resale value. A well-documented engine is worth 15–20% more on the used market.
✅ Honest Advice
Our advisors are paid to solve problems, not sell products. If a €200 repair will fix your engine, we will not push a €3,000 replacement. If a reconditioned engine makes more sense than new, we will tell you. Trust is our most valuable currency.
✅ Fast Turnaround
We stock 500+ OEM parts and maintain direct accounts with European distributors. Most routine services are completed within 24–48 hours. Overhauls are scheduled with realistic timelines — we do not over-promise and under-deliver.
✅ Sustainability That Matters
From recycling waste fluids to promoting reconditioned engines and investing in electric propulsion, we take our environmental responsibility seriously. Boating should not cost the earth — and with us, it does not have to.
What Our Customers Say
"I bought a reconditioned Volvo Penta D3-220 from Green Boat Engines for my Bavaria 37. The engine arrived crated perfectly, started first time, and has now done 400 hours without a hiccup. The service report that came with it was incredibly detailed — every torque value, every test result. I have never felt more confident in a purchase."
